Thanks to the mild climate, varied landscapes, and good roads, thousands of cyclists are drawn to this part of Spain every year. Even the famous Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a took place here in 2017. Perfect conditions for cycling<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With over 300 days of sunshine per year, the Costa Blanca is suitable for cycling almost all year round. Especially in spring and fall, you will see many cyclists training in the region. Temperatures range from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius during these seasons, and even in winter, the temperature is still pleasant. That is why many cyclists stay in this region throughout the winter, allowing them to train all year round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s not just the climate that makes cycling popular in this region, but also the variety of routes. You can choose to take the coastal road past places such as Calpe, J\u00e1vea, and Altea, where you’ll be treated to beautiful sea views along the way. Ideal for taking a break now and then to enjoy the view and the peace and quiet. The next day, you can go for a ride through the mountains with tough climbs and challenging hairpin bends. If you’re ready for a gentle workout, choose a route along the back roads past orange and almond orchards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fun but challenging routes in this region include the Coll de Rates (with a gradient of 5-6%), the Puerto de Tudons, and the Cumbre del Sol (with sections of up to 10% gradient!).<\/p>\n\n\n

Vuelta de Espa\u00f1a 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Vuelta de Espa\u00f1a already took place in this region in 2017, but in 2026 the peloton will return to the Costa Blanca North! On August 30, a challenging mountain stage is scheduled from Villajoyosa to the famous Alto de Aitana. This ride of over 187 kilometers includes several tough climbs, including T\u00e1rbena, Tudons, and finally a tough final climb to Aitana. Cycling-friendly facilities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Because the region is so popular among road cyclists and active cyclists, there are also many cycling facilities on the Costa Blanca. If you want to rent a bike or have your bike repaired, there are many bike shops in larger cities. In addition, you will find various nice and cozy cafes and restaurants along popular cycling routes. Here you can park your bike and enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack on the terrace. If you would like to cycle in this region, you can of course travel to the Costa Blanca by car or bus. If you prefer a shorter journey, you can fly quickly and easily from the Netherlands to Alicante or Valencia airport. Always wear a helmet and be mindful of other road users. Cars and buses also drive on the (narrow) mountain roads, so you need to be alert to your surroundings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
